Who are Trailblazers?

Trailblazers are enrolled in the sixth, seventh, and eighth grades. They are young people starting to realize their ability to make a difference in their communities and their world.

What do Trailblazers do?

Trailblazers engage in activities that put the core values of Salam Scouts into action. We put Trailblazers in a position where they can complete projects that manifest who they are and what they believe, acting as both stewards and leaders.

Trailblazer Badges

Trailblazer Scout level badges are tailored for pre- teens and teens, ready to forge their own path and take on advanced challenges.

As Trailblazers, scouts dive deeper into leadership roles, mastering outdoor skills, problem-solving, and community service. They learn to take initiative, lead their peers, and mentor younger scouts while embracing a spirit of exploration and innovation.

Trailblazers are driven by curiosity, integrity, and a bold willingness to try new things. Whether planning and executing complex adventures, tackling environmental projects, or developing new skills, Trailblazer Scouts demonstrate independence, resilience, and the confidence to push boundaries.

With a focus on trailblazing leadership, visionary thinking, collaboration, and responsible risk-taking, the Trailblazer series of badges empowers young teens to break new ground, lead by example, make a lasting impact in their communities, all while continuing their journey through adolescence discovering deeper sense of self discovery, personal growth and leave a meaningful legacy for future generation.

Salam Scouts Volunteer Policies

  1. Introduction
    • Welcome to Salam Scouts! Our organization is dedicated to creating a positive and enriching environment for our scouts, guided by our core values and commitment to community service. As a volunteer, your role is crucial in helping us achieve our
      mission. This document outlines the essential policies and expectations for all Salam Scouts volunteers.
  2. Volunteer Code of Conduct
    • Respect: All volunteers are expected to treat each scout, parent, and fellow volunteer with respect and kindness. We embrace diversity and strive to create a welcoming environment for all participants.
    • Professionalism: Maintain a high standard of professionalism in all interactions. This includes being punctual, prepared, and adhering to Salam Scouts’ policies and procedures.
    • Safety and Well-being: Prioritize the safety and well-being of scouts at all times. Follow safety guidelines and report any concerns or incidents immediately.
  3. Background Checks and Training
    • Background Checks: All volunteers must undergo a comprehensive background check to ensure the safety of our scouts. This process is mandatory and must be completed before starting any volunteer activities.
    • Training: Volunteers are required to complete the necessary training provided by Salam Scouts. This training covers organizational policies, safety procedures, and program guidelines.
  4. Roles and Responsibilities
    • Troop Leader: Responsible for guiding the troop, planning activities, and managing the overall program. Ensure that all activities align with Salam Scouts’ values and goals.
    • Co-Leader: Assists the Troop Leader with meetings and activities. Supports the leadership role and helps ensure smooth operation.
    • Support Leader: Provides assistance with special projects and daily tasks. Helps manage resources and support the troop’s needs.
    • Drivers/Chaperones: Ensures safe transportation and supervision during events and outings.
    • Troop Treasurer: Manages finances, tracks expenses, and assists with budgeting and fundraising.
    • Communications Liaison: Facilitates communication with parents and stakeholders. Shares updates and gathers feedback.
    • Snack Coordinator: Organizes snacks for meetings, considering dietary restrictions.
    • Troop Meeting Helper: Supports the Troop Leader and Co-Leader with logistics and engagement during meetings.
    • Field Trip Coordinator: Plans and organizes field trips, ensuring safety and alignment with troop goals.
  5. Financial Policies
    • Budgeting: Troops are encouraged to plan their budgets carefully. Collect any necessary dues and manage funds responsibly.
    • Reimbursements: Volunteers may be eligible for reimbursement of expenses incurred during troop activities. Submit receipts and reimbursement forms to the Troop Treasurer.
  6. Communication
    • Regular Updates: Maintain open and regular communication with scouts’ families and fellow volunteers. Use approved channels for sharing information and updates.
    • Feedback: Welcome and respond to feedback from scouts and parents to continually improve the program.
  7. Reporting and Compliance
    • Incident Reporting: Report any incidents or concerns immediately to the appropriate Salam Scouts’ representative. Follow the established procedures for documentation and resolution.
    • Policy Adherence: Adhere to all Salam Scouts policies and procedures. Familiarize yourself with the policies and seek guidance if you have any questions.
