Volunteer

Are you ready to embark on a lifelong journey of adventure and make a positive impact on your community? As a Salam Scouts volunteer, you’ll have the opportunity to mentor young Muslims, contribute to leadership teams, and help expand our reach. Whether you’re available for regular weekly commitments or can contribute on an ad-hoc basis, we welcome your involvement.

Supporting Troops: Many of our volunteers find fulfillment by directly assisting troop leaders. Share your passion for scouting by helping plan activities, guide young people, or provide administrative support.

Offering Specialized Skills: Perhaps you possess unique skills in marketing, event planning, or another area. If you’d like to offer these to benefit the broader Salam Scouts family, please email info@salamscouts.org. We’d love to learn how your talents can contribute to our mission.

Salam Scouts Volunteer Policies

  1. Introduction
    • Welcome to Salam Scouts! Our organization is dedicated to creating a positive and enriching environment for our scouts, guided by our core values and commitment to community service. As a volunteer, your role is crucial in helping us achieve our
      mission. This document outlines the essential policies and expectations for all Salam Scouts volunteers.
  2. Volunteer Code of Conduct
    • Respect: All volunteers are expected to treat each scout, parent, and fellow volunteer with respect and kindness. We embrace diversity and strive to create a welcoming environment for all participants.
    • Professionalism: Maintain a high standard of professionalism in all interactions. This includes being punctual, prepared, and adhering to Salam Scouts’ policies and procedures.
    • Safety and Well-being: Prioritize the safety and well-being of scouts at all times. Follow safety guidelines and report any concerns or incidents immediately.
  3. Background Checks and Training
    • Background Checks: All volunteers must undergo a comprehensive background check to ensure the safety of our scouts. This process is mandatory and must be completed before starting any volunteer activities.
    • Training: Volunteers are required to complete the necessary training provided by Salam Scouts. This training covers organizational policies, safety procedures, and program guidelines.
  4. Roles and Responsibilities
    • Troop Leader: Responsible for guiding the troop, planning activities, and managing the overall program. Ensure that all activities align with Salam Scouts’ values and goals.
    • Co-Leader: Assists the Troop Leader with meetings and activities. Supports the leadership role and helps ensure smooth operation.
    • Support Leader: Provides assistance with special projects and daily tasks. Helps manage resources and support the troop’s needs.
    • Drivers/Chaperones: Ensures safe transportation and supervision during events and outings.
    • Troop Treasurer: Manages finances, tracks expenses, and assists with budgeting and fundraising.
    • Communications Liaison: Facilitates communication with parents and stakeholders. Shares updates and gathers feedback.
    • Snack Coordinator: Organizes snacks for meetings, considering dietary restrictions.
    • Troop Meeting Helper: Supports the Troop Leader and Co-Leader with logistics and engagement during meetings.
    • Field Trip Coordinator: Plans and organizes field trips, ensuring safety and alignment with troop goals.
  5. Financial Policies
    • Budgeting: Troops are encouraged to plan their budgets carefully. Collect any necessary dues and manage funds responsibly.
    • Reimbursements: Volunteers may be eligible for reimbursement of expenses incurred during troop activities. Submit receipts and reimbursement forms to the Troop Treasurer.
  6. Communication
    • Regular Updates: Maintain open and regular communication with scouts’ families and fellow volunteers. Use approved channels for sharing information and updates.
    • Feedback: Welcome and respond to feedback from scouts and parents to continually improve the program.
  7. Reporting and Compliance
    • Incident Reporting: Report any incidents or concerns immediately to the appropriate Salam Scouts’ representative. Follow the established procedures for documentation and resolution.
    • Policy Adherence: Adhere to all Salam Scouts policies and procedures. Familiarize yourself with the policies and seek guidance if you have any questions.

    • Service and Outreach: Actively participate in community service and outreach activities as part of the Salam Scouts’ mission. Encourage scouts to engage in meaningful community contributions.
